It does this by converting MIDI information coming from a keyboard, or sequencer program, into standard serial data that can be fed into a modem. This data is whisked off to your fellow musician, where his or her copy of MidiPhone translates the serial data back into MIDI and is then sent to an awaiting keyboard. In addition, you can send text messages back and forth by simply typing on the Macintosh keyboard. A Hayes compatible high-speed modem with data compression and error correction is recommended. Generic SMF's either downloaded or transfered from another platform do not have the required 'Midi' type attached to the file. This is necessary for Mac sequencer applications to recognize them. This program allows the user to select the sequencer on which the SMF is to be played, and this program will attach the required 'type' and 'creator' to the SMF, making the files icon change too. The second utility remaps the SMF's program's and drum notes from General MIDI spec to the user's synthesizer's configuration. Template maps are provided. In real time, MIDI notes are graphically displayed on one or more Chroma keyboard windows. Its like watching a multicolored, high tech player piano! Chroma is also a powerful performance instrument. You can play notes using the mouse to control MIDI velocity, aftertouch, pitchbend, and modulation. Chroma is inherently a color application. It uses Color QuickDraw, which requires at least a 68020..Chroma will run under System 6.0.4 or later. It is System 7 compatible. Time scaling, frequency scaling, and frequency shifting are possible. LemurEdit is a graphical editing/displaying tool for the Lemur analysis files. LemurEdit displays the analysis files generated by Lemur, and can create new analysis files from selected components of existing ones. It also makes beautiful pictures, suitable for framing. To convert your generic Standard MIDI Files (SMFs) to a form that your Mac sequencer application can read, System 7 users can drag all of the files onto the application ICON. This version doesn't allow dragging of folders or disks though. Don't worry if you drag a non-SMF onto the application ICON. SMF TypeCaster checks to see if it is a legitimate SMF before it changes the file type to 'Midi'. To change the default Creator application, you must open SMF TypeCaster application by double-clicking on it. Click on the line that says Sequencer Player is ...
